Tag editing and display refresh issues

I don't know when this broke, but it's broken on a Pixel2 and Pixel 4a, both using Android 11.
1. the music browser gives me a FAILED TO EDIT SONG when I try to edit mp3 tags on multiple songs -- BUT, it will actually edit the tag. The error does not appear if I edit a single song.
2. the music browser does not recognize newly edited tags within the app. eg if I edit an album name, the app accepts the change but will still display the old album name. This is not limited to album name - I also tried it with ARTIST and ALBUM ARTIST
